Itinerary

Day 1

You will be collected from your hotel in Sharm el-sheik and transferred to the airport for your flight to Luxor which will take around 50 minutes. You will be met by your guide at Luxor airport and transferred in an air-conditioned vehicle to the West Bank.

The West Bank is known as the city of the dead and is the funerary complex of the Ancient Egyptians. We will visit the Valley of the Kings – the ancient cemetery of the pharaohs of the New Kingdom, hidden in the mountains between the two limestone hills of Gurna. The Valley of the Kings holds 63 registered tombs and 3 more tombs have recently been found.

We will then visit the Hatshepsut Temple. This is a mortuary temple with a unique design as it is the only temple in Egypt built in terrace formation into the cliff face. Hatshepsut was a famous female pharaoh who wore a false beard and all the trappings of male pharaohs in order to claim the throne for herself.

We will then visit the Memnon statues. They are the only remaining statues fronting the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III and show the pharaoh sitting on his throne. The temple itself was destroyed in an earthquake and much of the ruins were used in other building work by other pharaohs.

Lunch in a local restaurant and then and then enjoy a city tour along with the Bazaars of Luxor before heading to the East Bank.

Next is the Karnak Temples, the largest ancient temple complex in Egypt.  Karnak Temple complex is one of the major sites of Egypt and within its bounds, the sacred energies of Ancient Egypt can still be felt. We will also see the Luxor Temple known as the Temple of the Gods.

In the evening you can enjoy a visit to the Luxor Museum, the sound, and the light show at Karnak Temple, or do the Victoria City Tour. You will stay overnight at the Iberotel Luxor hotel on B&B; basis

Day 2

Enjoy a hot air balloon ride (optional when starting tour from Luxor). Your day will start early for a 5 am pick-up from your hotel where you will sail towards the West Bank of Luxor by boat. You will have an amazing ride over Luxor to see the sunrise and all the sites as you have never seen them before. Afterward, you will receive a t-shirt and certificate of your ride. The ride takes about 45 minutes.

After the balloon ride, you will visit the mortuary Temple of Ramses III, known as Medinet Habu. It is considered the second-largest complex after Karnak in size and preservation. Then you will visit the Valley of the Nobles, quite different from the Valley of the Kings. The tombs here are decorated with murals of everyday life and are not so much dedicated to religious books and images. Then we will visit Deir el-Medina, where the community of workmen who constructed the tombs in the Valley of the Kings had their village before going for lunch.

After lunch is the Karnak Temples, the largest ancient temple complex in Egypt.  Karnak Temple complex is one of the major sites of Egypt and within its bounds, the sacred energies of Ancient Egypt can still be felt. We will also see the Luxor Temple known as the Temple of the Gods.

At the end of the day, you will be transferred to Luxor Airport for your flight back to Sharm el-sheik. Upon arrival in Sharm, you will be taken back to your hotel.
